You also should see this correspondence beginning with the Governor's despatch of the 12th December at No. 12 on -/47.

The correspondence following on the Governor' "come back" at No. 25 on this file was dealt with at short notice in oral discussions because of the urgency arising from the facts (a) that a public statement could not be postponed beyond Monday 26th April (because the Malaya Leg. Co. was meeting on Tuesday the 27th) and (b) because there was to be a meeting of the Hong Kong Leg. Co. last Wednesday. In our telegram at No. 48 it was indicated that further consideration would be given here (with the Treasury) to the Governor's telegram at No. 46.But that further consideration was deferred on our being told in No. 49 that the Governor was sending a further telegram.

This has not yet arrived which means that, when it does, very rapid action will again have to be taken if a further communication is to be sent to the Governor in time for the postponed meeting of Leg. Co.
